Monfils Wins in Montpellier, Garin Wins Cordoba Title

Gael Monfils beat Vasek Pospisil, 7-5, 6-3 to win the Open Sud de France title to win the ninth title of his career.

Despite the loss, it was a good week for Pospisil, who has been struggling with injuries in recent year.  He reached a career high ranking of 25 in 2014.

Garin Triumps At Corboda Open

At the Cordoba Open, Cristian Garin defeated hometown hero Diego Schwartzman 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 after a slow start.  This was Garin’s third title in 12 months.

Garin said, “I always thought I could turn the match and win. That’s how it has been all week for me and it’s what I value most. I think I’m having my best moment but I have a lot to improve.”
