At the 2021 Australian Open, Aslan Karatsev became the first man in the open era to reach the semifinals on his grand slam debut. He came through the qualifying rounds and beat a number of seeded players on an impressive run at Melbourne.
Until 2021, Karatsev spent most of his career playing at the ITF and Challenger level. Karatsev currently does not have any sponsorship deals despite his great results on the tour. He has sometimes worn sponsor patches on his shirt but he has no long-term contracts with those companies.

During the Australian Open, there were reports suggesting that he borrowed his Adidas clothing from Mischa Zverev
Karatsev has a racquet sponsorship deal with Head. He currently uses the Head PT57A pro stock racquet.
