Stefanos Tsitsipas Ends Coaching Partnership With Mark Philippousis

Mark Philippousis announced on Instagram that he has stopped working with Stefanos Tsitsipas. Under Philippousis’ guidance, Tsitsipas reached the 2023 Australian Open final where he lost to Novak Djokovic.

Thanks for the opportunity of being a part of your team. It was a great ride and experience, I’m proud of what we achieved together in the short amount of time we had. I wish you health, happiness and success for your future, on and off the court!

– Mark Philippousis

Tsitsipas hired an outside coach for more guidance and less parental involvement in coaching activities. But his parents – especially his dad Apostolos continued to stay actively involved in his coaching.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has reached two grand slam finals – at the 2021 French Open and the 2023 Australian Open. He lost both those matches to Novak Djokovic. In addition, he has reached four grand slam semifinals. Despite this, a grand slam win has been elusive for Tsitsipas.
