Asics Terminates Its Sponsorship Contract With Thiago Wild After Domestic Violence Allegations

Asics has decided not to renew its sponsorship with Thiago Seyboth Wild, who is under police investigation for domestic abuse. His ex-girlfriend Thayane Lima has accused him of physical and emotional abuse.

Asics has been sponsoring Wild since his junior playing days but chose not to renew in light of the recent allegations against him.

Wild was out of action for several months due to a hip injury. He returned to action this week but lost in the first round at the Santiago challenger.

In 2020 when was just 19 years old, he won his first ATP tour title in Santiago beating Casper Ruud. He became the youngest Brazilian to win an ATP title, beating the record held by Gustavo Kuerten.

Interestingly, Asics decided to not renew the partnership. Adidas, the company that sponsors Alexander Zverev, who has been under investigation for domestic violence, chose to renew its contract with the German player despite the allegations.

Rafael Nadal Made “Adopted Son” Of Spanish Municipality In Mallorca

The city of Sant Llorenc des Cardassar has made Rafael Nadal their adopted son for his help in the aftermath of the 2018 rain and flooding that affected the city. Sant Llorenc des Cardassar is a small municipality in Mallorca.

I am very grateful to the people of Sant Llorenç for making me their adopted child! It is a great satisfaction for me that the people have thought that we deserve such an honor!

The flooding killed over a dozen people and hundreds had to evacuate. Nadal donated $1 million for the clean-up efforts. He helped volunteers clean up the area and allowed them to stay at the Rafa Nadal Academy. 

Nadal is currently recovering from foot surgery. He skipped the US Open and will be out for the rest of the season. It’s not clear when he will return to action.
