Leonardo Mayer Retires From Professional Tennis At Age 34

Argentine tennis player Leonardo Mayer announced his retirement from professional tennis at age 34. Mayer turned pro in 2003 and was a staple in the Top 100 for several years.

He won two singles titles in his career and reached a peak ranking of world number 21. He helped Argentina win the Davis Cup in 2016.

 

Fellow Argentine Juan Martin del Potro congratulated Mayer on his retirement and wished him well.

His best grand slam singles result was reaching the fourth round at the French Open and Wimbledon. He won one doubles title in his career. His best doubles grand slam result was reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open in 2019.
