Stefanos Tsitsipas Adds Thomas Enqvist To His Coaching Team

Stefanos Tsitsipas is working with former Swedish tennis player Thomas Enqvist on a trial basis. His dad Apostolos will remain as his full-time coach. Tsitsipas also occasionally works with Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

Speaking of Enqvist, Tsitsipas said

Thomas has a lot of experience playing on the tour and I have a lot of respect for him. The reason he’s here is to help me, show me a new way of looking at the game, and give me some new ideas. I’m here to listen to whatever he has to say to me. There is a good understanding between us.

Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the finals at the 2021 French Open. In addition, he has reached the semifinals at grand slam multiple times. But he has struggled to break through and win a grand slam.

The addition of Enqvist is an effort to help him win that elusive grand slam. Enqvist is a former world number 4 and reached the finals at the 1999 Australian Open. He won 19 titles in his career including three Masters titles.

Hugo Gaston Switches To Adidas

Hugo Gaston has signed up with Adidas. Gaston will wear Adidas shoes and clothing. He was previously sponsored by Asics and wore the brand’s clothing and shoes. Gaston’s Asics contract expired at the end of the year.

On Instagram, Gaston said:

Very happy to join the Adidas family 🔥 A new adventure begins

He ended 2021 inside the Top 70 in world rankings. In 2020, he reached the fourth round at the French Open. In 2021, he reached his first ATP final at the Gstaad, where he lost Casper Ruud.

Hugo Gaston plays an unorthodox style of tennis. He loves hitting drop shots and often surprises and wears out opponents with that shot. His best results have come on clay, a surface that fits his style of play.
