Alexander Zverev Heckled By Brazil Crowd Chanting “Olya Sharypova” And “Acapulco”

During the Davis Cup match against Brazil, Germany’s Alexander Zverev was heckled by the crowd. Some fans yelled the name of Olga Sharypova, Zverev’s ex-girlfriend who has accused Zverev of physical and mental abuse. Zverev is currently under investigation by the ATP for domestic abuse.

When it gets towards your family members or somebody that you love, this is where I draw the line for respect. Today that line was crossed basically.

Recently, Alexander Zverev has been in the news for hitting the umpire’s chair after a doubles match at Acapulco. Zverev was defaulted from the tournament for his actions. Some fans were peeved at the ATP for not suspending Zverev immediately after his outburst.

Alexander Zverev has said that he is not a fan of the new Davis Cup format. But after getting kicked out of Acapulco, he joined the Davis Cup team in an attempt to rehab his image.

WTA and the ATP will suspend the combined event in Moscow due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The ITF board suspended Russian and Belarusian tennis federation from all team competitions. Player from these two countries will be allowed to participate in tournaments but not under their country’s name or flag. (ATP)
