Joe Salisbury Becomes World Number One (First British Player Not Named Murray To Achieve Feat)

Joe Salisbury became become the number one ranked doubles player in the world. He is the third plan from Britain to rise to the top of the world rankings.

Andy Murray and Jamie Murray are two other British players to be ranked number 1 in the world. Salisbury has won two grand slam titles with American partner Rajeev Ram. He has also won two mixed doubles grand slam titles in his career.

Andy Murray reached the top of the ranking in singles while Jamie Murray and Joe Salisbury achieved the feat in doubles. The Murray brothers were simultaneously ranked number one in the world for some time.

Salisbury played college tennis at the University of Memphis before turning pro. He has earned over $3 million in his career.

Emma Raducanu To Headline Vodafone’s Play Your Way To Wimbledon Campaign

Vodafone has signed up Emma Raducanu as its ambassador. The sponsorship deal is reportedly worth $4 million per year. After her surprising 2021 victory, Raducanu has inked sponsorship deals with Tiffany & Co., Dior, British Airways, and Porche.

With the partnership, Raducanu will be the face of the “Play your way to Wimbledon” event  – a joint campaign by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) and Vodafone. It includes tournaments for under 14s and under 18s for the chance to play at Wimbledon in August.

Emma Raducanu became the first British woman to win a grand slam title since Virginia Wade in 1977. Since her dream run at the 2021 US Open, she has been courted by sponsors. She has been appointed  Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honors for services to tennis.
