Jessica Pegula has written a poignant article about her struggle after her mom had a cardiac arrest last year. Though her mom is recovering, it’s not clear if her health will ever get back to normal.

Despite spending weeks in the hospital and watching her mom slowly get back on her feet, Pegual continued to shine on the court reaching her career-high ranking of world number 2 in 2022 and reaching the doubles finals at the French Open.

In the article, Pegula talks about Buffalo Bills NFL player Damar Hamlin having a cardiac arrest on the field. The Pegula family owns the Buffalo Bills team and the Damar Hamlin incident made her relive her mom’s struggles.

As people have gotten to know me more on the court, and through interviews, they always tell me how calm, cool, and collected I am (for most part haha).
