Marcos Giron played college tennis for UCLA. He won the NCAA Division I singles title in 2014. But his move to professional tennis was interrupted by injuries. He underwent hip surgeries to fix chronic pain. But in 2020, he entered the top 100 in world rankings for the first time.

In 2024, he won his first ATP title at Newport. This helped him reach a career-high ranking of world number 38.

His best grand slam result came at the French Open in 2021 and 2023 when he reached the third round. He reached his first ATP final at the 2022 San Diego Open. In 2024, he reached the finals at the Dallas Open where he lost to Tommy Paul.
