Swiss Shoe Brand On Releases THE ROGER Shoes For Everyday Wear

Swiss shoe brand On announced the release of limited shoes it has designed with Roger Federer. The shoes called, THE ROGER Centre Court 0-Series are designed for everyday wear and not for the tennis court.

Federer will continue to wear Nike Air Zoom Vapor X shoes on the court even though he doesn’t have a contract with Nike.

Federer became an investor in On last year. Though the value of the financial investment was not disclosed, it has been speculated that Federer invested $50 million in the Swiss company.

The limited-edition shoe was released to coincide with the 17th anniversary of Federer’s first grand slam win at Wimbledon in 2013.

Federer told Vogue, “It’s not for tennis, it’s for the street. I hope it’s a shoe you can wear every day, sort of like your watch—something that’s so comfortable, you want to wear it all the time.”

The Roger is On’s second lifestyle shoe. On released Cloudnova earlier this spring. Cloudnova was sold out and a big success for the Swiss brand.

The Roger weights only one-third the weight of most sneakers and is made of 100% vegan leather.

CloudTec soles that are eponymous with On are hidden in The Roger shoes. Federer challenged the design team to make them sleek and less clunky.

The limited-edition shoes are limited to 1,000 pairs that are individually numbered and will be made available through a draw online.  If you miss out, don’t panic. There will be other opportunities in the future to buy The Roger shoes.  More colors will also be available in the future.
