Stefanos Tsitsipas and Redbull Try To Revolutionize Tennis With Novel Tie-Break Only Matches

Tennis matches can take hours to finish. But Redbull and Stefanos Tsitsipas believe that Red Bull Bassline, a tie-break-only tournament will revolutionize tennis.

Redbull bassline is a one-night tiebreak tournament featuring many top players including Stefanos Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas believes that the new format will provide “a breath of fresh air” for tennis.

It’s a new format, a faster format, much more exciting for fans of a younger age. There’s going to be energy, there’s music, there’s a whole lot of vibrancy put into it which makes it like a breath of fresh air,” he says. It will revolutionize tennis, I would say, bring it to another dimension.

The eight-player event will be held at the temporary arena in the heart of Vienna. The tournament will be played on a best-of-three tie-break format. Every point played in a match counts and will feature intense exchanges between players.

Matches will last 10 to 25 minutes. There will be seven matches played in all – four quarter-finals, two semifinals, and a final. The matches will not feature a chair umpire. Lines will be called by electronic systems and the players on the court will resolve any disputes among themselves.
