Elise Mertens has fired her boyfriend Robbe Ceyssens as her coach. But their relationship is intact. She has hired Simon Goffin, brother of ATP player David Goffin as her coach.

Ceyssens has been working with Mertens for a long time. Relationships can get complicated when players date their coaches. But it looks like Mertens and Ceyssens have managed to keep their coaching relationship professional and Mertens decided to hire a new coach.

Though Mertens is an excellent singles player, she found more success in doubles. She has won doubles titles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. She has played doubles with Aryna Sabalenka and Hsieh Su-We.

Mertens hits flat and deep shots on the court with very little topspin. The Backhand is her better stroke. She can hit backhand winners from anywhere on the court.
