Anton Dubrov is currently coaching Aryna Sabalenka. Before becoming her coach, Sabalenka was her hitting partner. Though there were a lot of ups and downs in terms of results, Dubrov was able to successfully help Sabalenka win her first grand slam at the 2023 Australian Open.
Coaching runs in Dubrov’s family – his grandfather Eduard Dubrov was also a tennis coach. Anton Dubrov is from Belarus, just like Sabalenka, and played at the ITF level before turning to coaching. Prior to working with Dubrov, Aryna Sabalenka worked with Dmitry Tursunov and Dieter Kindlman.
In 2022, Anton Dubrov wanted to stop coaching Sabalenka telling her, “‘I think I’m done, I can’t give you anything else.”. But Sabalenka insisted on continuing the partnership. That was the right decision for the Belarusian as she rose to world number 2 after her Australian Open triumph. Not surprisingly, Dubrov broke down in tears.
