Roger Federer Will Skip Wimbledon, Comeback Delayed To Fall

Roger Federer will not play at Wimbledon in 2022. His rehab has been slower than expected but a return to competitive tennis is possible in the fall.

According to Blick, Federer will hit some balls with his wife Mirka soon. He is yet to have any sessions with his fitness coach Pierre Paganini but he is slowly strengthening his knees and legs.

Roger Federer reached the quarterfinals at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. He underwent his second knee surgery thereafter and was in crutches for some time. While Federer was away from the court, Rafael Nadal eclipsed his record of 20 grand slams when he won the Australian Open earlier this year.

Federer has said that he would like to play doubles with Rafael Nadal at the Laver Cup, which is scheduled for 23–25 September 2022. Given Federer’s comeback timeline, Fedal doubles match looks likely to happen.
