Taylor Townsend announced on Instagram that she is expecting a baby. The 24-year old American’s video on IG went through her accomplishments and challenges as a tennis player.

Townsend said that she is expecting the baby in March 2021. She added “Mom to be” on her IG bio. She did not reveal the identity of the baby’s father.

Fellow WTA players Kim Clijsters,  Genie Bouchard, Madison Keys, Heather Watson, and several other players congratulated Townsend on her announcement. 

Townsend was the number-one ranked junior in the world in 2012. That year, she won the junior singles title at the Australian Open and three out of the four double junior grand slam titles.

Throughout her career, Townsend accused of not being in good physical shape. She was frequently passed over for training and wildcard opportunities despite her good results on the court.
