Though Rebeka Masarova represents Spain, she was born in Basel, Switzerland, the hometown of Roger Federer. She was inspired to pick up tennis after watching Federer play the 2003 Wimbledon final.
As a junior, she won the 2016 French Open and reached the Australian Open final in 2017. She started representing Spain in 2018.
