Naomi Osaka Named Louis Vuitton Brand Ambassador

Sponsors can’t get enough of Naomi Osaka. Louis Vuitton is the latest brand to sign Osaka as its brand ambassador. Osaka was the highest-paid female athlete in 2020 according to Forbes.

Naomi is an exceptional woman who represents her generation and is also a role model for everyone. Her career and convictions are inspiring. I am in awe of Naomi, she stays true to herself and doesn’t compromise on her values.

– Nicolas Ghesquière, Creative Director, Louis Vuitton

In 2020, the usually shy Osaka used her status as a top tennis player to highlight social injustice. At the US Open, Osaka wore masks bearing the name of people who suffered injustice due to their race. She also actively embraced the “Black Lives Matter Movement”.

Osaka’s critics suggested that her explicit support for social injustice might make her less appealing to big brands. But in reality, the opposite has occurred. More brands are interested in Osaka because she is outspoken about the issues she cares about.

Louis Vuitton is a French fashion house and luxury goods, maker. The company’s products include shoes, watches, jewelry, accessories, sunglasses, and more. The company had $15 billion in revenue in 2020.

Motorola signs sponsorship deal With Sofia Kenin (who continues to use an iPhone?)

Motorola has signed a sponsorship deal with Sofia Kenin. Kenin shared the partnership news on social media. In her message, Kenin said that she will be using the Motorola Razr phone – a flippable phone with 2 screens.

The last big-name tennis player to endorse Motorola was Maria Sharapova. Motorola signed up Sharapova after her first grand slam title at Wimbledon in 2004.

Though the official announcement came yesterday, Kenin had worn the Motorola logo towards the end of the 2020 season. This is Kenin’s first sponsorship deal since signing up with a new management agency, GSE Worldwide, after splitting with Top Five Management.

Sofia Kenin had posted the original message from an iPhone. But that message was quickly deleted.

Kenin had a fantastic 2020 season, which was shortened due to the pandemic. She won the Australian Open in January and reached the finals at the French Open later in the year.

Motorola was founded in Schaumburg, Illinois in 1928. The company was sold to Google in 2012, and then to Chinese company Lenovo in 2014.
