Former Australian Player Sam Groth To Run For The Liberals in Nepean

Sam Groth is running for the state seat of Nepean representing the Liberals. The former tennis player hopes to help the Liberals take back Nepean and help them win the next election.

Groth has been working as a commentator for Channel Nine during the Australian Open. In 2012, he recorded the fastest serve ever at 163 miles per hour at the ATP challenger in Busan, Korea. 

Sam Groth retired from tennis in 2018. He reached a peak singles ranking of world number 53 in 2015. He reached the third round at the Australian Open singles in 2015, which was his best grand slam result in his career.

He found better success in doubles with a career-high ranking of world number 24. He reached the semifinals at the French Open in 2014 with partner Andrey Golubev. He was part of the Australian Davis Cup team that reached the semifinals in 2015 and 2017.

Kei Nishikori Undergoes Hip Surgery, Will Be Out For Six Months

Kei Nishikori underwent hip surgery and will be out of action for 6 months. The injury-prone Japanese star underwent wrist surgery in 2017 and elbow surgery in 2019.

Nishikori shared a video on Twitter after his surgery.

Kei Nishikori is 32-years old and repeated injuries have taken a toll. Nishikori’s best results have come at the US Open. He reached the finals there in 2014 where he lost to Marin Cilic. He also reached the semifinals in 2016 and 2018. Though he has reached the quarterfinals at a grand slam 12 times, he has not been able to win a grand slam yet.

Nishikori is very popular in Japan. He lives in Florida to avoid the scrutiny he gets in his home country. He is one of the highest-paid tennis players in the world.
