Madison Keys won the 2020 Musial Award for her efforts to encourage kindness in a difficult year. Keys founded “Kindness Wins” as a way to promote kindness between people.
The Musial award, named for Baseball Hall of Famer Stan Musial, honors the year’s greatest moments of sportsmanship and the athletes who embody class and character.
Keys also enlisted other athletes such as Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin and Paralympian Oksana Masters to drive home the message of kindness.
In May, she asked people to share their stories of gratitude on social media under the hashtag #kindnesswinsday. Kindness Wins will offer grants to people to fulfill acts of kindness.
Keys reached the finals at the US Open in 2020. She has also reached the semifinals at the Australian Open and the French Open. She reached a career-high ranking of world number 7in 2016.
