Leylah Hernandez: “Steve Nash Inspired Me. Hope To Play Tennis With Him”

Steve Nash has inspired many Canadian athletes. After an impressive 18-year career in the NBA, he is now the coach of the Brooklyn Nets. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018.

Nash is an active tennis player and has attended many tournaments. He has been attending matches at the US Open this year, where Canadian Leylah Fernandez has had a cinderella run.

I remember when I was younger, my dad used him as an example, and told me I had to work hard like Steve Nash. Hopefully we can have a tennis match soon

In 2019, she defeated Emma Navarro to win the 2019 girls’ French Open title. She was the first Canadian junior grand slam champion since Eugenie Bouchard won the 2012 girls’ Wimbledon Championships. She also reached the finals of the 2019 Australian Open juniors.

Hernandez had a great run but lost the final to Emma Raducanu but the future looks bright for the Canadian. Future also looks bright for Canada, which has several young players including Bianca Andreescu, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Denis Shapovalov.
