South African tennis star Kevin Anderson has hung up his racquet. The two-time grand slam champion has been struggling with injuries in recent years and dropped out of the Top 100 in rankings, which made it difficult to qualify for tournaments.
Anderson announced the news on social media.
Anderson played college tennis at Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was a three-time All American in singles and two-time All American in doubles.
He is the highest-ranked South African on the ATP tour – world number 5- matching the record held by Kevin Curren.
Anderson is married to golfer Kelsey O’Neal. They have a daughter Kiera, who was born in 2019. Anderson holds South African citizenship but is a permanent resident of the United States.
