Bad behavior in tennis has now reached its junior ranks. Top-seeded French junior Michael Kouame, who is 15 years old, slapped his opponent Raphael Nii Ankrah after losing to him at the ITF juniors tournament in Accra.
The incident occurred at the end of the match when the players were about to shake hands at the net. A brawl broke out between the two placers after the slapping incident.
Kouame issued an apology online and said that he received verbal insults throughout the match, including some directed at his mother.
After a series of bad behaviors on the men’s tour, ATP said that it will start cracking down on bad behavior with harsher punishments.
