2023 is Feliciano Lopez‘s last year on the tour. The 41-year-old is ranked outside the top 500 and is not able to get direct entry to top tournaments.
But Lopez is determined to carry on for the rest of the season before handing up. Speaking about his upcoming retirement, Lopez said:
Since I decided it’s my last year on Tour, it’s been a bit difficult.. bc I love what I do. I have a passion for tennis. I wish I could continue playing & it’s a bit sad. But on the other hand, I have to do it bc I’m 41 & this is not forever; I understand.
He has fond memories of playing against Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

Feliciano Lopez reached his career-high ranking of world number 12 in 2015. He has won 7 singles titles in his career. He reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon multiple times. He also reached the quarterfinals at the US Open once.
Lopez won the 2016 French Open doubles title with fellow Spaniard Marc López. He reached a career-high ranking of world number 9 in doubles. He has won 6 doubles titles in his career.
