Daniil Medvedev accidentally hit a fan in the stands in Vienna. But he was not defaulted from the match for his actions. The official response drew the ire of many fans who felt that Medvedev got off easy.

Social media was quick to point out the double standards – Novak Djokovic was defaulted from the US Open for accidentally hitting a line umpire but Medvedev continued on with the match.

Replays show that Daniil Medvedev was protecting himself from hitting the face and in his reflexive response accidentally hit the fan. But we can be sure that Medvedev did not hit the ball in frustration as he was comfortably ahead in the match.

Sebastien Grosjean And Sergi Bruguera To Coach Arthur Fils

Sebastien Grosjean will be coaching Arthur Fils in 2024. Grosjean has left his role as the French Davis Cup captain to take on his new role.

Fils is an up-and-coming French tennis player who has won one ATP title in his career. Speaking of working with Fils, Grosjean said,

Grosjean is a former world number 4 who reached four grand slam semifinals in his career. He won four ATP titles in his career. Sergi Bruguera will also join his coaching team. Bruguera is a two-time French Open champion who reached a career-high ranking of world number 3. Fabien Cosmao will be his physical trainer.

Arthur Fils is a promising young player who had an excellent junior career in which he reached a peak ranking of world number 3. In 2021, he reached the boys’ singles final and won the boys’ doubles at the French Open. He won his first ATP title in Lyon in 2023.
