Federer Wins Dubai, Completes a Century of Titles

Roger Federer defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-4 to win the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.  It was Federer’s 100th ATP tour title. Only Jimmy Connors, with 109 titles is ahead of Federer in ATP titles.

After struggling in the first three rounds, Vintage Federer showed up in the semi final against Borna Coric and in the final against Tsitsipas.  In the final, Federer came out playing a very aggressive style of tennis and avenged his loss to Tsitsipas in the 4th round of the Australian Open.

Kyrgios Stuns Nadal After Saving Three Match Points

Wherever Nick Kyrgios goes, controversy ensues. Kygrios beat Rafael Nadal in three tense sets 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(8) at the Mexico Open in a match that Nadal and Kygrios won’t forget.

Kyrgios on one occasion asked the spectators to “shut the f*** up”. The umpire gave him a warning for swearing.

Kyrgios attempted an underhanded serve in the third set to take advantage of Nadal’s receiving position that three feet behind the baseline (within the rules, for sure).

Kyrgios was arguing with the umpire, snipping at the ball kids..usual day in Kyrgios’ life but he was also playing some good tennis between all of this.

Nadal had three match points in the final set tie break.  He couldn’t convert, and at 6-6, Nadal double faulted.  Kyrgios won the next point to win the match.

Nadal told reporters: “[Kyrgios] is a player who has enormous talent. He could win grand slams and fight the top positions of the ranking, but there is a reason why he is where he is . He lacks respect for the public, the rival and towards himself.”

Kyrgios responded by saying he won’t be listening to Nadal’s criticism and said Nadal “doesn’t know anything about me”
