Alexander Zverev Splits With Coach Ferrer Heading Into 2021 Season
David Ferrer won’t be coaching Alexander Zverev in 2021. The coaching arrangement, which started in July 2020, ended last month when the two sat down to take stock at the end of the season. Zverev’s father, Alexander Zverev Sr be Zverev’s coach going into 2021.
Zverev’s coaching relationships with other former players such as Juan Carlos Ferrero and Ivan Lendl didn’t last too long. So it’s not too surprising that Ferrer’s stint was short too. Previous coaches have cited Zverev’s work ethic as one of the reasons for the split.
Ferrer said that his split with Zverev was amicable and that it was his decision.
“Absolutely nothing has happened between us, everything is still fine. In fact, I am very grateful to him for the opportunity he gave me to travel with him.”

Zverev had very good success on the court during his partnership with Zverev. He reached the final at the 2020 US Open losing to Dominic Thiem.
Zverev has had a tumultuous few months. His former girlfriend Olga Sharypova accused him of domestic assault. Zverev has denied the allegations.
