CoCo Gauff Gets Warning For Coaching, Handles It Like A Champ

Coco Gauff beat Rebecca Marino in the first round at Roland Garros. Though the score of 7-5, 6-0 indicates a comfortable victory, the match was not without drama.

When Gauff was up 3-0, chair umpire Marijana Veljovic gave her a soft warning for coaching. Gauff wasn’t happy but quietly explained to Veljovic that her dad wasn’t coaching her and that she had told her dad not to talk to her during matches.

It’s refreshing to see a young player handle a situation like this with ease. Coco Gauff has only been on the tour for a few years but her behavior yesterday belied her age.
