Brandon Nakashima Lifts Next Gen Title, Sets Himself For A Big 2023

Brandon Nakashima became the first American to win the Next Gen ATP Finals. Nakashima beat Jiri Lehecka to lift the title. Nakashima was unbeaten all week. Last year, he reached lost in the semifinals at the Next Gen Finals losing to Sebastian Korda.

Previous winners of the Next Gen ATP Finals have gone on to have big seasons the following year. Previous winners include Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Hyeon Chung.

Brandon Nakashima has been impressive under pressure. He is 16-1 in tiebreaks since Wimbledon. He won his first ATP title at the San Diego Open earlier this year. At Wimbledon, he reached the fourth round- his best grand slam result. 

Brandon Nakashima was born in San Diego to a Japanese American father. His mom is originally from Vietnam and moved to the US when she was five. As a junior, he reached his peak ranking of world number 3.
