Asics has decided not to renew its sponsorship with Thiago Seyboth Wild, who is under police investigation for domestic abuse. His ex-girlfriend Thayane Lima has accused him of physical and emotional abuse.
Asics has been sponsoring Wild since his junior playing days but chose not to renew in light of the recent allegations against him.
Wild was out of action for several months due to a hip injury. He returned to action this week but lost in the first round at the Santiago challenger.
In 2020 when was just 19 years old, he won his first ATP tour title in Santiago beating Casper Ruud. He became the youngest Brazilian to win an ATP title, beating the record held by Gustavo Kuerten.
Interestingly, Asics decided to not renew the partnership. Adidas, the company that sponsors Alexander Zverev, who has been under investigation for domestic violence, chose to renew its contract with the German player despite the allegations.
