Juan Martin Del Potro Hitting Balls Again, Sets Eyes On Tokyo Olympics

According to a report in the La Nacion, Juan Martin Del Potro is back on the court hitting balls. It’s still early in his rehabilitation from his knee surgery in March. That surgery was the eighth time that Del Potro has gone under the knife in a remarkable career marked by injuries, resilience, and courage.

Del Potro played on a clay court in Key Biscayne. He appeared to be in good spirits, even taking pictures with the players on the neighboring court.

Del Potro’s surgery was performed by renowned surgeon Jorge Chahla. Chahla has operated on a number of well-known sports stars.  He is hopeful that Del Potro can make a full recovery. Del Potro is currently working with physiotherapist Pablo Pagano to regain the strength in his knee.

A big goal for Del Potro is representing his country in the Olympics, which begins on July 24th. He plans to play the Olympics even if he can only get to 50% full fitness.

Del Potro won the 2019 US Open. He helped Argentina win the Davis Cup in 2016 and has two Olympics medals (2012 and 2016).
