Yasutaka Uchiyama mostly competes on the challenger tour due to his ranking. He has represented Japan in Davis Cup. His idols growing up were Roger Federer and countryman Kei Nishikori.

Uchiyama is a passionate baseball fan. If he didn’t become a tennis player, he says he would be a baseball player. He supports the baseball team, Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.

Uchiyama splits his time between Tokyo and Barcelona when he is not traveling to tournaments. He loves playing on hard courts. His current sponsors are Wilson and Adidas.
