Vera Zvonareva was ranked world number 2 in 2010. That year was a banner year for Zvonareva. She reached the singles finals at Wimbledon and the US Open.
Zvonareva’s mother, Natalia is an Olympic bronze medalist in field hockey. Her mom introduced her to tennis at the age of 6. Her interests outside the courts are volleyball, hockey, computers, reading, and listening to music.
In 2015, she took a break from tennis. She welcomed her daughter Evelina in 2016. She returned to the tour in 2017 and slowly built her rankings back up.
Despite her excellent singles record, she found better success at grand slams in doubles and mixed doubles. Zvonareva works with Rett Syndrome Foundation to raise awareness for nervous system disorder.
