Simona Halep To Work With Longtime Serena Williams Coach Patrick Mouratoglou

After coaching Serena Williams for many years, Patrick Mouratoglou will now coach Simona Halep. Serena Williams hasn’t played since 2021 Wimbledon. Mouratoglou is a super coach – he helped Serena win 10 of her 23 grand slam titles.

Serena Williams is close to retirement, though we don’t know how long she plans to play. Speaking of the difficult break up with Williams, Mouratoglou said:

I have the highest respect for her but it was out of the question at the time. A few weeks later, I had a conversation with Serena, and the door opened for me, at least short term, to work with someone else.

Patrick Mouratoglou runs the Mouratoglou Academy where top players such as Coco Gauff, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Grigor Dimitrov have trained.

Simona Halep is a two-time grand slam champion. She won the 2018 French Open and 2019 Wimbledon titles. She was ranked world number one for 64 weeks between 2017 and 2019.
