Claura Tauson Hires Spanish Coach Carlos Martinez

Claura Tauson will work with Spanish coach Carlos Martinez. Tauson, once ranked as high as world number 33, has dropped outside the top 100. Until recently, Carlos Martinez was coaching Daria Kasatkina.

Martinez is confident that Tauson can get back to her previous level, telling TV2 Sport,

She’s a player who can become really good if we manage to keep her injury-free. I never talk about rankings or what level players can reach, but she can become much better, and then we’ll see what level or ranking she can achieve.

With the retirement of Caroline Wozniacki, fans expected Clara Tauson to be the next big female tennis star from Denmark. So far, it hasn’t worked out according to plan.

Tauson has been struggling with injuries for the last several months. Because of her low rankings, she has to play qualifying rounds at WTA tournaments or play on the ITF tour.

She has won two WTA titles in her career – the Lyon Open and Luxembourg Open – in 2021. Her best grand slam result came at the 2022 US Open where she reached the third round.
