Tennis Stars Raise Money For Victims of Hurricane Dorian

Baha Mar resort in the Bahamas will host a fundraising event to benefit the victims of Hurricane Dorian. It’s a 3-day event that starts on November 7.

The event, called the Baha Mar Cup is a pro-am tennis tournament pitting former professional players against fans.  The event also includes exhibition matches involving former and current professional tennis players, and celebrities.

Baha Mar Cup will feature Coco Gauff, Mark Knowles, Andy  Roddick, Tommy Haas, Bob Bryan, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario and James Blake.

The fundraising effort is led by Mark Knowles, a former double Grand Slam Champion and a native of Bahamas. “I am honored to share the beauty and warmth of my country with the world as we come together to help the people of Abaco and Grand Bahama unite to build an even better Bahamas,” said Mark Knowles.

Revamped Davis Cup Struggling To Sell Tickets

Fans are not too excited about the upcoming Davis Cup event in Madrid. Kosmos, Gerard Pique’s company which has taken over Davis Cup is struggling to sell tickets

On November 18, eighteen national team will begin playing in the first edition of the event   which has replaced the traditional home and away format that has been in place for years.  The new format was approved last year despite criticism from top players and top tennis-playing countries.

Ticket sales have only reached 50 per cent for nine of the 25 sessions . Ties between Argentina and Chile, and Serbia and Japan, both have more than 8,000 tickets still available.

Kosmos spokesperson said, “We are working with the 17 embassies in Spain in order to reach international communities living in Spain. We have economic prices. The cheapest ticket costs 25 euros and you can see a tie (comprising three matches).”
