Dominic Thiem Confirmed For Laver Cup 2021

2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem will return to Laver Cup 2021. Thiem was part of the Team Europe that won the title in 2019. The 2020 Laver Cup that was supposed to be held in Boston was postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Laver Cup confirmed Thiem’s participation through a social media post.

Since the tournament is owned by Roger Federer’s management company, Team 8 Sports And Entertainment, Federer is certain to play if he is fit. Alexander Zverev, who is represented by Team 8 is also likely to play.

Will Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal play?

Laver will move the O2 Arena in London in 2022. Prior editions of the Laver Cup have been held in Geneva, Chicago, and Prague.

Former World Number One Jelena Jankovic Expecting Baby Girl

Former world number one Jelena Jankovic is expecting a baby girl, according to the Telegraf. She has been romantically involved with Serbian doctor Branko Barać.

Jankovic first met Barać at the Adria Tour tennis tournament organized by Novak Djokovic. Many players including Novak Djokovic tested positive for COVID-19 during the Adria tour. Jankovic went to a private clinic for a COVID-19 test and again ran into Barać. Soon thereafter, the couple started dating. The couple then vacationed together in Montenegro.

Jankovic’s best result at a grand slam singles came in 2008 when she reached the finals at the US Open, losing to Serena Williams. She won the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon in 2007 partnering with Jamie Murray. She earned more than $19 million during her tennis career. She hasn’t played professionally since 2017.

Barac is a rheumatologist and is employed at the Institute of Rheumatology. He got his doctor’s degree in 2003 and completed his specialization in internal medicine in 2013.
