Maria Sakkari got a marriage proposal as she was preparing to serve in her mixed doubles match at a charity event in New York to support Ukraine. But Sakkari responded, “I have a boyfriend, sorry”. She is currently dating Konstantinos Mitsotakis, the son of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The charity event called Tennis Plays for Peace featured 21 current and former players. It raised $1.2 million for Ukrainian relief efforts. US Open has planned events before and during the US Open to raise awareness for Ukraine. US Open is scheduled to start on August 20, 2022.

Belarussian player Victoria Azarenka was removed from the charity event after objections from Ukrainian players. Belarus has supported Russia in its efforts to take over Ukraine.

Rising American tennis star Sebi Korda has signed a sponsorship deal with luxury watchmaker Richard Mille. Korda’s sister and golfer Nelly Korda is also sponsored by Richard Mille.

Sebastian Korda is the son of 1998 Australian Open champion Petr Korda and former top 30 player Regina Rajchrtová. Korda won his first title in 2021. In 2022, he entered the top 30 rankings. His best performance at a grand slam was reaching the fourth round, which he has done at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Korda recently signed a sponsorship deal with Nike for clothing and shoes. He was previously with Adidas. His other sponsors are Wilson and Motorola.
