ATP Signs Six-Year Betting Data Deal With Sportsradar

Sportradar has won the rights for global ATP data and streaming starting in 2024. The company came out as the winner following a competitive bidding process run by Tennis Data Innovations (TDI).

Sportsradar is not new to tennis. Since 2022, the company has supplied ATP tour and Challenger tour secondary feeds. By winning the bid, Sportsradar gets full ownership of the ATP events. The bidding process saw five bidders compete for the six-year contract that begins in 2024.

Speaking of Sportsradar, TDI CEO David Lampitt said, “Sportradar has been chosen as the best partner to deliver against our growth ambitions due to their combination of product capabilities, global reach, and an innovative commercial model that preserved our ability to share in the continued growth of this market,”

Tennis has a complicated relationship with betting. Many low-ranked players have been suspended or banned from betting on matches. There is very little money in the lower rungs of tennis which causes players to resort to betting. On the other hand, the ATP is happy to sign up with betting companies to bring in cash.

As legal betting is off in the US and in other countries, data and video streams have become more important. The betting companies rely on this data for their betting business and sports organizations such as the ATP get to make money from these deals.

Sportsradar is a partner for other sports including the NHL, NBA, MLB, and UEFA.
