As a junior, Nishesh Basavareddy made headlines in 2022 by clinching the US Open boys’ doubles title alongside Ozan Baris. His stellar performances earned him a career-high ITF Junior U18 ranking of World No. 5. He played college tennis at Stanford for two years before turning pro. Basavareddy, who is of Indian descent, considers Rajeev Ram as his idol. They both come from Carmel, Indiana.
Fast forward to 2024, Basavareddy made waves on the professional circuit. He secured his first ATP Challenger title at the Tiburon Challenger, followed by a second triumph at the Puerto Vallarta Open. By December, his consistent performances propelled him into the Top 150 of the ATP rankings for the first time. This milestone also earned him a spot in the prestigious Next Gen ATP Finals.
