We now know why Lleyton Hewitt moved his family to the Gold Coast. The Hewitts bought a $4 million home there to provide better training opportunities for their son, Cruz Hewitt. The young Hewitt has been making a name for himself as a junior and many think that he has the potential to have a bigger tennis career than his dad.
Lleyton was impressed by the number of tennis centers along the Gold coast. There are many grass, clay and, hard courts in the area and there are many opportunities to train on multiple surfaces.
Gold coast is also home to the KDV tennis academy, which is based in Carrara. The academy run by Russian businessman Denis Shtengelov. It is understood that Cruz Hewitt will train at the KDV tennis academy as part of its high performance program. The academy is often used by many top players including Ashleigh Barty.
Clay is Cruz Hewitt‘s favorite surface. He won the junior tennis clay-court title in singles and doubles earlier this year. He plays a style of tennis that is reminiscent of the Lleyton Hewitt.
