Grand Slam Champions Who Were Double Bageled
A 6-0, 6-0 score in tennis, also down as a double bagel, is rare. It is the ultimate embarrassment for the loser if they can’t win a single game in a professional tennis match.
Double bagels happen for many reasons. One player is in great form that day and simply doesn’t miss anything on that day. Or a player is hurt and can’t move properly to compete. Or maybe the player is too overwhelmed by the occasion. In any case, no one wants a 0-6, 0-6 score on their resume.
Here is a list of double bagel matches that involved grand champions. We only considered double bagel results after the loser had won at least one grand slam.
Historically, double bagels have been more common in women’s matches than men’s matches. This is probably due to the fact that women’s matches generally feature more breaks of serve, and hence a double bagel is easier to accomplish.
