Danielle Collins is working with Nicolas Almagro on a trial basis. Almagro retired from professional tennis in 2019. He won 13 ATP titles during his career. He was also a part of the Spanish team that won the Davis Cup.
Collins was introduced to Almagro by Patrick Mouratoglou, who coaches Serena Williams and runs a tennis academy.
Collins was previously coached by Jay Gooding and Chip Brooks. She played college tennis first at the University of Florida and then at the University of Virginia, where she won the NCAA title in 2014 and 2016.
She reached a career-high ranking of 23 in 2019. It will be interesting to see if Almagro, a former top 10 player, can help Collins improve her game.
