Danielle Collins Working With Nicolas Almagro

Danielle Collins is working with Nicolas Almagro on a trial basis. Almagro retired from professional tennis in 2019. He won 13 ATP titles during his career. He was also a part of the Spanish team that won the Davis Cup.

Collins was introduced to Almagro by Patrick Mouratoglou, who coaches Serena Williams and runs a tennis academy. 

Collins was previously coached by Jay Gooding and Chip Brooks. She played college tennis first at the University of Florida and then at the University of Virginia, where she won the NCAA title in 2014 and 2016. 

She reached a career-high ranking of 23 in 2019.  It will be interesting to see if Almagro, a former top 10 player, can help Collins improve her game.

Ana Ivanovic Joins Tennis Channel As Analyst

The Tennis Channel announced that Ana Ivanovic will be an athlete analyst during the French Open. This is Ivanovic’s first TV assignment.

A lot of former professional players return to the sport as commentators and analysts on TV. It will be interesting to see how Ivanovic does on TV. She is definitely knowledgeable and can bring unique perspectives to the audience as a former Roland Garros champion. 

Ivanovic is a former world number 1 and the 2008 French Open champion. She retired from professional tennis at the end of the 2016 season. She is married to retired soccer player Bastian Schweinsteiger.  The couple has two kids.
