Joao Sousa is the highest-ranked player from Portugal ever on the ATP tour – he reached a ranking of world number 28 in 2016. He has won singles titles in his career. He has been in the Top 100 rankings for most of his career.

Sousa is a well-known sports personality in Portugal. He has been featured on the cover of Portugal’s Men’s Health Magazine and GQ magazine. In 2018, he was voted  Portugal’s Sportsman of the Year. 

At age 15, he moved to Barcelona to train at the Catalan Tennis Federation. He grew up idolizing Juan Carlos Ferrero, Pete Sampras, and Roger Federer. His sponsors are Joma, Wilson, Millenium BCP, Isdin, and Centro Porsche Braga. He has earned over $9 million in his career. Sousa owns the Conquistador Palace, a hotel he developed in his hometown of Guimaraes, Portugal.

Sousa endorses the car dealership Centro Porsche Braga which sells and services Porsche vehicles.

Denis Shapovalov Hires Peter Polansky As New Coach

Denis Shapovalov is working with a new coach. Peter Polansky has taken over as Shapovalov’s top coach after Shapovalov split with  Jamie Delgado. Peter Polansky is a former Canadian tennis player whose top singles ranking peaked at world number 110.

Shapovalov brought Jamie Delgado on his team but his results have been subpar under Delgado’s coaching. So it was not surprising that Degaldo was fired. Jamie Delgado previously coached Andy Murray.

Shapovalov worked with Mikhail Youzhny until the end of 2021. That relationship also came to end due to poor results.
