Alexander Bublik was born and raised in Russia. He represented Russia until 2016 and then switched his nationality to Kazakhstan due to better funding opportunities there.
Bublik started playing tennis at age 2 with his father, Stanislav, who is also his coach. Bublik has slowly climbed up the rankings with good results on the men’s tour. Though Bublik is an excellent singles player, his greatest moment came in doubles when he reached the finals at the 2021 French Open men’s doubles with Andrey Golubev. His current sponsors are Yoxoi and Yonex. He has earned more than $5 million in his career.
Bublik is one of the few players on the tour who speaks his mind. He has said that he hates tennis and only plays the game for the money.
I hate tennis with all my heart. I hate every day that I have to play. I don’t see a bright spot in being a tennis player. I only play for the money. If there was no money at stake, I would quit right away.
I have seven tattoos and each one is connected to a specific time in my life. The one on tennis (a hand skeleton holding a tennis ball), it’s probably to remind me that I have to stuff myself with this sport dirt every day.
