Quietly, Tallon Griekspoor is putting together quite a season on the ATP Challenger tour. In 2021, he has won seven Challenger titles – a feat no player has achieved before. He is also on a 20-match winning streak.
He has moved up to world number 72 in the rankings. In 2022, he may not play on the Challenger tour as his ranking will be high enough to get a direct entry into most ATP tournaments. Looking forward to 2022, Griekspoor said,
I have had a good time on the Challenger Tour but I think it’s time for the next step, playing ATP Tour events. I am really looking forward to that and can’t wait to start.
He reached the second round at the 2021 US Open where he lost to Novak Djokovic. Though he lost that match in straight sets, his talent was evident.
Griekspoor’s twin brothers Scott and Kevin, who are five and a half years older than him, also played on the ATP tour. They reached a peak ranking of 205 and 655 in the world respectively. Both his brothers have retired from tennis.
