Dominik Koepfer played tennis only twice a week until he was 16 as he also played golf and skied.  He is from Furtwangen, Germany, where it snows 5 months of the year. His current sponsors include racquet maker Head and Lotto.

Dominik Koepfer played college tennis at Tulane University in New Orleans, USA.  He graduated with a finance degree from Tulane. He was a two-time All American during his time at Tulane.

His idol while growing up was fellow German, Tommy Haas. In addition to tennis, he enjoys playing golf, skiing, football, and basketball.
