Beatriz Haddad Maia comes from a tennis family. Her mother and grandmother were successful tennis players in Brazil. Her junior rankings peaked at world number 15. She moved to the women’s tour in 2017 and finished in the top 100 that year.
Between 2018 and 2020, she struggled with injuries and was suspended from the tour after failing a doping test. In 2022, she reached the doubles final at the Australian Open with Anna Danilina. At the 2022 Canadian Open, she reached the final becoming the first Brazilian woman to reach a WTA final. In 2022, she also entered the Top 20 in rankings.
