Thiem Splits With Thomas Muster

Dominic Thiem has split with former world number one Thomas Muster after just two weeks.  Thiem will stick with his current coaching team consisting of Nicolas Massu and his dad Wolfgang.

Thiem said, “We ended our working relationship. It did not fit. Its easy like that. It is just about work. We get along well personally and we said in the beginning. If anything is not alright, we will tell each other”.

Speaking of Thiem’s decision, Muster said, “”He’s a fine guy and likes to learn a lot. But he has also got some shortcomings he has to work on if he wants to be at the top. He has improved a lot, but he has to catch up in the technical, physical and foremost in the mental area. To be honest I have seen myself in this role for the next two years. Why he has chosen differently – I know why, but I don’t want to say the details.

Esther Vergeer Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

Retired Dutch wheelchair tennis player Esther Vergeer revealed on Twitter that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Vergeer was one of the dominant wheel chair tennis players of her era , winning 470 straight matches at one point.

Vergeer won 25 Grand Slam titles, four Paralympic singles gold medals and three doubles golds during her impressive career.
